AI Disclosure

BetterHealthMap uses artificial intelligence (AI) to power several features of the Services, including the navigator, summaries, and insights. This disclosure explains how AI is used, its limitations, and the control you have over AI features. By using AI-assisted features, you acknowledge the limitations described here.

How AI Is Used

We use AI models to process information you provide and to generate educational outputs that help you organize and reflect on your health and wellness. AI is used in the following features:

  • Navigator: An conversational assistant that answers questions about your health map, goals, habits, and tracked data, and helps you find relevant features and information within the Services.
  • Summaries: AI-generated overviews of your assessment results, progress, and tracked metrics, intended to help you quickly understand patterns and trends in the information you have provided.
  • Insights: AI-generated observations and suggestions based on the information you provide, such as identifying a domain that may benefit from attention or suggesting a focus area for your roadmap.

All AI outputs are educational and informational. They are designed to support your own reflection and planning, not to make decisions for you.

AI Limitations

AI models are powerful tools, but they have important limitations. You should keep the following in mind when using AI-assisted features:

  • AI may be inaccurate: AI outputs are generated based on patterns in training data and the information you provide. They may contain errors, be incomplete, or be inappropriate for your situation. Always use your own judgment and verify important information.
  • AI is not medical advice: AI outputs are educational and are not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. They are not a substitute for the advice of a qualified healthcare provider. See our Health Disclaimer.
  • AI may not understand your full context: AI processes the information available to it within the Services, which may be incomplete or self-reported. It does not have access to your full medical history unless you provide it, and it cannot perform clinical evaluations.
  • AI outputs can vary: The same input may produce different outputs at different times. AI-generated content should be treated as one perspective, not as definitive or consistent advice.

No AI Makes Health Decisions for You

AI features in the Services are designed to inform and assist you, not to make decisions on your behalf. No AI system within the Services diagnoses conditions, prescribes treatments, adjusts your medication, or makes any health decision for you. You remain in control of all decisions about your health and how you act on the information and insights provided.

Any action you take based on AI outputs is your own decision and your responsibility. We encourage you to discuss AI-generated insights with a qualified healthcare provider before acting on them.

AI Provider Abstraction

BetterHealthMap uses one or more third-party AI model providers to power AI features. We may change or add providers over time as technology evolves. When we do, the way AI features behave or the types of outputs they produce may change. We design our systems so that AI features continue to function regardless of the underlying provider, and we do not rely on any single provider for all AI functionality.

We apply consistent guidelines and safety measures to AI outputs regardless of the provider used. However, different models have different capabilities and limitations, and outputs may vary accordingly.

Data Sent to AI Providers

When you use AI-assisted features, relevant portions of the information you have provided to the Services are sent to our AI model providers to generate responses. This may include your assessment responses, tracked metrics, goals, habits, and the specific question or input you provide to the navigator.

We send only the information necessary to generate the requested output. AI providers process this data on our behalf under contractual terms. Your information is not used by AI providers to train their general models. For more information about how your data is handled and shared, see our Privacy Policy.

Your Control Over AI Features

You have control over how and when you use AI features. You can:

  • Choose whether to use AI-assisted features. Most core features of the Services, such as viewing your Health Map, tracking habits, and logging metrics, do not require AI and are available without using AI features.
  • Review AI-generated summaries and insights before acting on them. You can disregard any output you disagree with or find unhelpful.
  • Limit the information you provide to the Services, which in turn limits what is available to AI features when generating outputs.
  • Delete your account and associated data, which removes the information that AI features rely on.

AI Is a Complement, Not a Replacement

AI features are intended to complement your own knowledge, reflection, and the guidance of qualified professionals. They are not a replacement for professional medical advice, mental health support, or the judgment of a qualified healthcare provider. If you have a health concern, always consult a professional who can evaluate your individual situation.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately. Do not rely on AI features in an emergency.
